1.  Graduate from the Navy: I plan on going into the navy when I'm out of high school, and I would feel very accomplished if I made it through.

2. Travel to Tahiti: I have always wanted to travel to Tahiti, and before I die, I really want to go. The island is so awesome, the water is warm, the air is hot, and the sand is white.                              

3. Base Jump: I have always wanted to go skydiving, but I have found way more badass things involving parachutes. Skydiving seems cool, but I really want to base jump before I'm dead. Base jumping his jumping off anything thats not a plane, such as cliffs, and buildings.

4. Fly a plane: I have always been in love with flying in small aircrafts, like helicopters and small person planes. One of my dreams in life, which is a top bucket list item of mine, is being able to fly one.

5. Captain Boat to Cabo: The ocean has always been a huge part of my life, and when I'm older I plan on being a private captain. My one goal is to captain a boat down to Cabo.

My favorite Hobby

          I have many hobbies and I enjoy doing many activities, but my absolute favorite hobby is spearfishing. I have been spearfishing for about 5 years now and in my opinion, its the best thing in the world. Spearfishing is better in the summer because the water is warmer and the fish are more abundant. In the summer, we have anywhere for yellowtail to very big tuna we hunt. In the winter is when we go for the white sea bass, the ghost of the sea. My absolute favorite fish to hunt is California yellowtail. This fish live under floating kelp paddies, in the local shores, and you can also find them just cruising in schools. Yellows are pure muscle and they put up a tough fight, they're also very tasty. I love spearfishing, and to me the best part about is is the fact tat not many people do it. The reason I love spearing so much is because I love being in the ocean. I love being in the water, and i feel like i'm in a whole new world when i'm below the surface. I have my happiest moments while diving.

ABOUT ME

Jake Luhrs

I’m seventeen years old and I have lived in newport beach for my whole life. I live with my dad in west newport, and my mom lives in Corona Del Mar. I have been surfing since I was very young, and I learned how to surf at my home break at River Jetties. I have been surfing there ever since. I used to go to newport harbor high school, but now i’m at back bay. I love music, I enjoy listening to punk and rock, my favorite band is The Smiths.

I grew up on the water and all my hobbies and interests revolve around the ocean. I love to surf, fish, dive, and spearfish. I also love riding motocross. When I was younger, I completly restored a boat by myself, I then sold it to buy my car. I work at Basine Marine shipyard, and my goal when i'm older is to be a captain. I plan on joining the navy when i am out of high school.
